On January 28, the L10 Arts and Cultural Center officially opened in Downtown Brooklyn, funded by $84 million from New York City. Positioned above Whole Foods in the Bam Cultural District, the center occupies 65,000 sq. ft and serves as a home for four non-profits focused on African diaspora arts and culture. It includes performance spaces for 651 Arts, a significantly expanded gallery for Mocada, additional cinemas for BAM, and a new branch of the Brooklyn Public Library. The ribbon-cutting ceremony featured speeches from key cultural leaders, celebrating the project's completion amidst current challenges in the U.S.
"We continue to make Black history, whether it is through our art, culture or just by existing—this center fortifies that mission as a home for our community."
"L10 Arts and Cultural Center is a testament to the resilience of our community—a place where the rich culture of the African diaspora will be nurtured and celebrated."
