MTA Capital Plan Includes Proposed Interborough Express

The IBX would run along existing freight rail tracks and is based on a longstanding plan by advocates that would extend to the Bronx instead of into Manhattan.
The $2.75 billion allocation within the capital plan represents about half of the total cost for the project, a substantial down payment as the MTA seeks financing.
The 14-mile Interborough Express would run from Bay Ridge to Jackson Heights in Queens, connecting to 17 subway lines and over 50 bus routes.
