A Mexican Navy ship, the Cuauhtémoc Sailboat, struck the Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday night, injuring 19 people, with four sustaining serious injuries. Although local officials, including New York City Mayor Eric Adams, confirmed the incident did not cause significant damage to the bridge, it prompted a swift response from police, fire departments, and the Coast Guard. The vessel's departure maneuver led to the accident, halting its training cruise. A structural inspection cleared the bridge for reopening shortly after the incident.
A total of 19 people were injured, including four seriously, New York City Mayor Eric Adams said.

Video on local television showed the Mexican vessel near the base of the bridge and a tugboat trying to assist it.
All the injuries were on the ship, and the bridge did not suffer any major damage and was reopened after a structural inspection.
