Life Time signed a lease for an 85,000-square-foot health-and-fitness center at 175 Third Street with a 13,000-square-foot rooftop pool deck across three indoor levels. 175 Third Street will be the largest building in Gowanus and part of the five-building Gowanus Wharf campus developed by Charney Companies and Tavros. Rezoning enabling 9,000 new rental apartments and a federally backed cleanup of the canal spurred residential and commercial demand along the waterfront. The facility will include three indoor pickleball courts, a wet suite with sauna, steam, infrared and cold plunge, and a rooftop pool deck designed for year-round use. Excavation has begun and an opening is expected in 2028; the location will serve residents of Gowanus, Carroll Gardens and Park Slope. Life Time operates 185 clubs, including 13 in New York City.
