A 24-year-old mentally ill man arrested after pushing another man to his death on the subway tracks at the Lexington-125th Street station in Harlem last week has a history of arrests in Brooklyn, the first one at age 16, officials told the New York Times.
The June 10, 6:48 p.m. attack by Carlton McPherson was unprovoked, officials said. McPherson shoved the man in front of an oncoming No. 4 train. The operator was unable to stop the train in time to save him.
According to court records obtained by the Brooklyn Eagle, McPherson's most recent Brooklyn arrest took place in October 2023, where he was charged with multiple counts of assault with the intention to cause injury with a weapon.
He was also charged in Manhattan last March with intent to murder.
