Jonathan Fernandez, 38, was charged with murder and weapons possession after police found his girlfriend, Eryka Caldwell, stabbed to death in their Bushwick apartment. Officers were called to the Cooper St. area near Irving Ave. around 8:45 a.m. Sunday after Caldwell was screaming for help. Police could not access the front door and entered through a window. Caldwell was found in the kitchen with multiple stab wounds and a slashed throat. Fernandez was found sitting on the couch. Medics transported Caldwell to Brookdale University Hospital, where she died. A knife used in the killing was recovered at the apartment.
