Local elected leader makes community cleanups a popular tradition
Briefly

These cleanups are so important in so many ways. Not only do they result in more attractive streets and a better quality of life for those living and working in the area, but they teach an important lesson about cooperation and collaboration being at the heart of community, bringing people together in pursuit of a common goal.
I received a wide response in organizing the most recent cleanup on Saturday, particularly from a contingent of students from Brooklyn Technical High School.
The volunteers started at Seth Low Park and then fanned out, concentrating on the stretch of Kings Highway between West Fourth and West 12th streets.
Colton has led community cleanups focusing on the area's bustling business areas for more than a decade.
