K Slope Market prepares for soft launch at former Steve's 9th Street Supermarket location * Brooklyn Paper
"I'm excited to open for the community in Park Slope, [and] excited to bring something new to an establishment that's been here for so long,"
"This store has been here for over 20 years. I know it was a big staple in the community. I'm hoping that we can come in and be able to revitalize and fill in a gap that's been missing. I'm Korean, so I'm trying to bring a little bit of my experience to the area as well, and hopefully people like it,"
K Slope Market, a full-service Key Food Cooperative supermarket, opens with a limited-capacity soft launch on Nov. 23 at 7 a.m., with a grand opening planned for January 2026. The soft opening includes holiday deals, food samples, a raffle that features a "Thanksgiving Feast" for 12, and goodie bags for the first 100 customers. Owner Brian Kim, a Brooklyn resident and second-generation grocer, will retain many existing products including the international aisle while adding a broader range of Asian items. Former manager Jairo Jerez joins as general manager. Renovations include new refrigerators, flooring, lighting, and a doubled fresh produce department; aisle widths remain accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.
