Park Plaza Restaurant, a family-owned diner in Brooklyn Heights, will close this Thursday after 42 years. Owners thanked customers and staff for support and memories while announcing the closure without specifying a reason. The Likourentzos family described closing as a major life chapter and credited hard work and determination for creating a special destination. The diner offered classic American breakfast, lunch specials, and dinner staples and operated daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Its location near multiple subway stations, Cadman Plaza Park, and Brooklyn's Civic Center made it a convenient neighborhood fixture frequented by diverse patrons treated like family.
"Thank you for your support and all the beautiful memories over the years," owner Dimitri Likourentzos and the team at Park Plaza Restaurant wrote on social media. "It's been a pleasure serving you."
"My family this week will be closing a big chapter of our lives," Likourentzos wrote. "We owe a lot to what Park Plaza provided us. For my parents, my siblings and I and our children, and the many longtime employees who we love as family. With hard work and determination, we created a special destination for 42 years."
"Park Plaza has been a destination that personifies what NYC is all about: where people from all walks of life come to eat, socialize and be treated as family," Likourentzos added. "We will never forget all of these amazing relationships we built. Thank you to everyone who was part of this journey with my family. It has been a pleasure to share this experience with you all."
