Abraham Freud, a special education teacher with 24 years of experience, suffers from severe health issues that hinder his ability to work effectively with students at Fort Greene’s District 75 school. Assigned to a demanding class of students with emotional and developmental needs, he struggles with his physical limitations due to the school building's lack of elevators and inadequate staffing. Despite requesting accommodations for his condition, he received minimal support from the administration, prompting concerns about his capability to fulfill the demands of his role in an environment with high-needs children.
The only thing that my principal said she could do for me was give me a delayed start time, which also delayed the end of my day.
He deliberately assigned me to some 8:1:1 classes that were short-staffed. That means the kids are very high-needs.
