Hochul orders flags at half-staff to honor victims of Oct. 7 attack in Israel
Briefly

"As the home of the largest Jewish population outside of Israel, we will do everything in our power to defend against the forces of hatred and stand firmly against those who perpetuate it," Hochul said in a statement Friday.
Hochul has directed flags on state buildings to be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Monday, Oct. 7, in honor of the victims of the deadly attack on Israel.
She also ordered landmarks to be illuminated in yellow to remember the hostages still in captivity.
Earlier, Hochul directed the State Police to enhance security and heighten surveillance around critical infrastructure hubs, synagogues, yeshivas, mosques, community centers and other at-risk areas.
