Governor Kathy Hochul demanded the removal of Department of Homeland Security head Kristi Noem after a second fatal shooting of a protester by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents in Minnesota. Hochul said Noem has shown a profound disregard for human life and stated that Noem has forfeited her right to lead. Hochul called on Noem to resign or for President Donald Trump to fire her, and said Noem must be removed or impeached if neither occurs. The Trump administration defended the shooting of nurse Alex Pretti as justified, claiming Pretti was armed and aggressive, a claim Hochul called a shameless, bold-faced lie and urged the public to watch the footage of the shooting.
