Green-Wood Cemetery Visitor Center to Open in April
"Brooklynites will get their first chance to check out the long-awaited visitor center at Green-Wood Cemetery when the doors officially open to the public in April. Dubbed the Green-House at Green-Wood, the new facility includes the restored Weir Greenhouse as well as the new terra-cotta clad building that wraps around the landmarked structure."
"The new building includes visitor orientation areas as well as room for education programs, exhibitions, staff offices, and archival storage. It was largely complete when Brownstoner wandered by in August and October of 2025, while work continued on the interior of the original greenhouse."
"The project got a boost in 2022 with $4.5 million in capital funding, and in 2023 an additional $500,000 in state funds were allocated. Programs being offered during the opening celebration include a workshop with artist Jean Shin and a chance to plant some native wildflower seedlings."
