Gowanus in 60 seconds: 5 luxury cars boosted from Brooklyn garage in overnight heist
"A brazen group of thieves boosted five luxury cars from a Brooklyn parking garage in an early morning heist on Sunday, according to the NYPD. Police said the bandits snuck into the garage, which is in a new apartment building on President Street a block away from the Gowanus Canal, around 5:15 a.m and made off with a Mercedes G550, a Range Rover, a BMW X5, an Audi SQ5, and an Audi Q5."
"The parking garage is unstaffed overnight - but it's filled with fancy rides, like a Lamborghini that was parked inside on Sunday. A parking space in the garage goes for $500 a month, and a studio apartment in the building rents for more than $3,000 a month."
"An NYPD spokesperson on Monday said police were still investigating the case and had not made any arrests. By 5:50 a.m., there was no sign of anyone - or the five cars that disappeared from the garage."
Five high-end vehicles—a Mercedes G550, Range Rover, BMW X5, and two Audis—were stolen from a parking garage in a new Brooklyn apartment building near the Gowanus Canal around 5:15 a.m. on Sunday. The thieves entered the unstaffed garage, executed the theft, and abandoned a Hyundai with its engine running. No injuries occurred during the incident. The garage, located in a building with $3,000+ monthly studio rents and $500 monthly parking spaces, contained other luxury vehicles including a Lamborghini. Police had not made arrests as of Monday and continued investigating the case.
