Firefighters from the FDNY’s 58th Battalion faced harsh, below-freezing temperatures to combat flames on the second floor of a two-story home in Canarsie.
Around 60 firefighters from 12 units, utilizing three hose lines, successfully brought the major fire under control by 8 a.m. after an intense fight.
In a heartwarming moment amidst the chaos, firefighters were able to rescue a pet from the residence and facilitated a reunion with its relieved owner.
The cause and origin of the fire are currently under investigation by the FDNY fire marshal's office, as officials piece together the incident's details.
