The Fire Department (FDNY) has set up a specialized task force to battle and prevent NYC wildfires due to prolonged drought conditions causing brush fires across the city.
Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker announced the task force includes fire marshals, inspectors, and tactical drone units to coordinate rapid responses and investigate fire causes.
‘By creating this task force, we are taking real action to prevent brush fires from occurring, putting protocols in place to keep our members safe,’ Tucker stated.
The FDNY has battled 271 brush fires across the five boroughs from Nov. 1 to 14, highlighting the urgent need for improved fire prevention strategies.
