Dorothy Dixon, 53, a mother of six and grandmother, was struck several times in the torso and later pronounced dead at Coney Island Hospital; a 47-year-old man was shot in the leg and treated at NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn. Fryar fled on foot while his wife drove the vehicle, which was found abandoned a month later in Brighton Beach. NYPD arrested Fryar on July 17, 2019, and a jury convicted him of second-degree murder on September 3, 2025. On October 16, Fryar received a 25-years-to-life sentence. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez called the killing senseless and emphasized commitment to reducing shootings and holding offenders accountable.
