"It was a stupid little thing I was doing because there are so many great finds on Facebook Market, and I wanted a way to document them," she said. "I would send them to my friends and be like, 'Oh my God, I would suck toes for this but it's in Connecticut or Massachusetts.'"
"When I buy a piece of furniture, I really connect to it, and I want to keep it for a long time. That's my intention," she said. "When you find a sofa you really like, that's good quality, you're going to keep it for decades. I really want to live by that."
Chyelle Milgrom built a large following on Instagram with the account @fbmarketslut by documenting and selling Facebook Marketplace finds. She began making long road trips and renting vans to collect chairs, couches, tables, and shelving, filling her loft with projects. Reluctance to discard quality pieces and a desire to preserve them motivated a new approach to selling. Milgrom opened a 1,700-square-foot vintage furniture store and café at 199 Cook St. in Bushwick on November 9, creating a space for customers to buy, test, work, and gather amid a growing cluster of vintage shops.
