"Through these walks, we honor Dr. King's legacy by encouraging healthier lifestyles and drawing attention to the transformative power of food in African American communities and other marginalized populations." — Rebecca Johnson, PPMNY Partnerships Manager.
The Health Freedom Walks aim to highlight the health disparities that disproportionately affect communities of color, empowering residents to choose healthier food options.
At each stop, chefs will serve specially curated, wholesome dishes that reflect the cultural significance of the area and Dr. King's ideals.
The walks are structured as a restaurant crawl, leading participants to locally-owned eateries that promote whole food, plant-based diets.
