As the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 attacks nears, Brooklynites prepare to honor victims and first responders with various events, including the Together We Stand 5K in Fort Greene that symbolizes unity and remembrance.
The Father Mychal Judge 9/11 Walk of Remembrance will honor the Brooklyn-born chaplain who died during the attacks, showing collective grief and resilience as participants walk from his parish to St. Peters Church.
On September 10, Brooklynites will gather for a candlelighting ceremony at the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance, sharing stories and honoring those lost alongside first responders and community members.
The FDNY Battalion 57 Memorial Mass offers a chance for the community to pay respects to the fallen firefighters and reflect on the heroes who responded to the disaster.
