Christopher Benitez, 33, was arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman on the J train in Queens. The attack occurred on February 25 when the victim, seven months pregnant, was punched in the face without provocation. Benitez, a habitual offender with 16 prior arrests, admitted to the crime upon police interrogation. The victim suffered physical injuries but was not hospitalized. After being caught at a relative's home, he was arraigned and faced a $15,000 bail set by the judge.
"I hit the lady," Benitez told the detective. "She sat right in front of me and gave me a f**king attitude, bro."
Benitez, a recidivist with 16 prior arrests for assault, criminal mischief, and public intoxication, was taken into custody at a relative's home in Brooklyn.
