Brooklyn man charged with funding ISIS, training with firearms in the US
Briefly

A Brooklyn man, Mansuri Manuchekhri, was arrested for facilitating $70,000 in payments to ISIS affiliates in Turkey and Syria and for firearm training in the US. This included sending a training video to an ISIS contact while indicating preparedness for violent acts. The payments were linked to recipients involved in attacks, including a church attack in Istanbul. Manuchekhri, who overstayed his tourist visa, could face up to 45 years in prison. His attorney argues the support intended for orphans and widows does not constitute terrorism.
"Protecting the homeland and prosecuting evildoers who assist terrorist organizations by funding their violent and hateful agenda, here and abroad, will always be a priority of this Office."
"I look forward to seeing the government's actual evidence, not mere allegations, proving that sending financial support to orphans and widows qualifies as material support of terrorism."
