Brooklyn Man Charged in Ridgewood Rape After Boxcutter Threat

A 25-year-old Brooklyn man, Jeferson Tipantuna, was arrested after forcing entry into a Ridgewood apartment on May 9 and sexually assaulting a woman at knifepoint. Police allege he threatened her with a boxcutter, forced her to perform oral sex, and raped her vaginally inside the apartment. During the assault, he allegedly cut her finger with the blade. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital and listed in stable condition. Officers from the 104th Precinct arrested Tipantuna near the scene shortly after the attack and recovered the boxcutter after he allegedly dropped it when ordered. He remains in custody facing felony charges, including first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.

Under New York law, rape in the first degree is classified as a Class B felony and can carry a sentence of up to 25 years in prison. Certain sex-offense convictions may also trigger mandatory registration under the state's Sex Offender Registration Act, known as SORA."

"Tipantuna was arraigned in Queens criminal court before Judge Michael Hartofilis, who set bail at $25,000 cash or $50,000 bond, according to court records. As QNS reported, the charges were filed after detectives presented a detailed criminal complaint to prosecutors. He remains in custody pending his next court dates, and authorities say the investigation is still active. The case will be prosecuted in Queens, and the 104th Precinct is continuing to hand"
