Brooklyn Heights Man Killed After Box Truck Hit-And-Run
"Nasir Nadim, 59, died after being struck by a box truck in Brooklyn Heights, authorities said. The incident occurred Jan. 23 near Cadman Plaza West and Clinton Street. Nadim was transported to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he died a week later. As reported by News 12 Brooklyn, investigators say Nadim and the Freightliner box truck were involved in an earlier collision blocks away near State Street and Clinton Street."
"After that initial crash, Nadim allegedly grabbed the driver's-side door and held on as the truck traveled roughly 600 feet northbound on Cadman Plaza West around 1 p.m. on Jan. 23. Police said Nadim eventually fell from the truck and was struck by it, suffering injuries that paramedics described as critical. He was transported to New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he died on Jan. 30."
"According to police, the driver of the Freightliner did not remain at the scene. Investigators are searching for both the vehicle and the operator, and they are reviewing available surveillance footage and speaking with witnesses. Under New York's Vehicle and Traffic Law §600, leaving the scene of an accident that results in death can be prosecuted as a class D felony, which can carry potential prison time and fines."
