Brooklyn Democratic Party Chair Endorses Cuomo For Mayor

Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, the chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party, endorsed former governor Andrew Cuomo for mayor, shifting her support from Mayor Eric Adams. She praised Cuomo as a battle-tested Democrat who could navigate the city's challenges, emphasizing his prior public service record in Brooklyn and effective leadership during the COVID pandemic. Bichotte Hermelyn's endorsement reflects changing political alliances within Brooklyn's Democratic landscape, which boasts the largest number of Democrats in any county in the U.S. Cuomo expressed gratitude for the support at a gathering in Downtown Brooklyn with other local elected officials.

Andrew Cuomo has steadfastly served as an exemplary public servant for the betterment of our City and State for decades, starting right here in Brooklyn where he began as a community advocate.

Bichotte Hermelyn said she thinks Cuomo would make New York safer and more affordable, and the city needs 'a battle-tested and visionary Democrat to keep leading New York City through some of its most challenging times.'
