"Sources close to the investigation said the child was with his parents when he suddenly bolted from them and ran into the rain-slicked intersection. Cops said the child was subsequently struck by the driver of a white Ford Explorer SUV, who did not stop and fled the scene."
"Police sources said the parents rushed their severely injured son to Brookdale University Hospital, located just a short distance from the site of the collision. Despite all efforts, he could not be saved; police have not yet released his identity. So far, no arrests have been made, and police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver in question."
