Luna Park announced the Cyclone rollercoaster will reopen on Sept. 7, after a two-week maintenance period following a malfunction that trapped riders.
The Department of Buildings cited Luna Park for failing to maintain the Cyclone and lacking timely notification regarding its malfunction, totaling penalties of $3,750.
After repairs made for a crack on the chain sprocket, the Cyclone underwent test runs and was cleared by the DOB to resume operation early on Sept. 7.
Andrew Rudansky from DOB confirmed that the Cyclone passed inspection and is safe for public use, following necessary repairs and test runs in recent days.
