According to police, the victim left his Dodge Durango parked and running near Bay Parkway and 72 Street at 2:40 p.m. While the car was unattended, a 29-year-old man stepped in and started to drive away.
The police said the victim was coming home from work at around 12 p.m. when a 41-year-old man started harassing her and hit her in the back with a wooden stick. He then sprayed her with mace in the face and menaced her with a knife.
According to police, the thief used a fake check with the victim's name on it to withdraw $20,000 from his Chase checking account.
