State Senator Andrew Gounardes announced a new $230,000 funding for the Carroll Gardens Library renovations, addressing community requests for essential upgrades, including an elevator modernization.
The additional funds will prevent a second lengthy closure of the library while enhancing facilities with bathroom upgrades, a new heating and cooling system, historical lighting, and a teen center.
During a hard-hat tour, Brooklyn Public Library President Linda E. Johnson and the Friends of Carroll Gardens Library praised Senator Gounardes for his commitment to local libraries and the community.
Gounardes expressed pride in the library's role, stating, 'This library is a jewel of Carroll Gardens that's been serving our community for over a century.'
