On Wednesday, 14 alleged members of the 59 Brims and Bloodhound Brims gangs were indicted on multiple charges including murder and conspiracy, following a two-year investigation into violent incidents in Sheepshead Bay and Coney Island dating back to 2021. The indictment outlines involvement in 19 shooting incidents, resulting in injuries to nine individuals, including four innocent bystanders. Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez emphasized the importance of enforcement in reducing gun violence and preventing gang activities, which are seen as unacceptable in the community.
Gun violence hit a record low last year because of strategic enforcement and gang takedowns like today's, which removed 14 alleged shooters responsible for a staggering level of violence in Coney Island and Sheepshead Bay.
The investigation centered on a series of violent incidents, including a homicide and numerous non-fatal shootings in the 61st, 60th, 67th, 73rd, and 69th Precincts beginning in February 2021.
