An Arlington man was apprehended in Belmont for stealing a pickup truck and trailer loaded with racing sculls belonging to an Arlington/Belmont crew team. The truck, previously reported stolen, was involved in reckless driving resulting in several hit-and-run crashes with non-life-threatening injuries and damage to property. Witnesses described chaotic scenes in Cambridge and Somerville as the driver evaded police. Parents of rowers expressed their devastation over the loss of equipment, particularly after a challenging season impacted by weather-related race cancellations.
