Truong Nguyen, a 40-year-old Braintree man, pleaded guilty to charges including passport fraud and aggravated identity theft. He illegally used the identity of a deceased teenager, obtaining several certifications and even a job with the Melrose Fire Department. Starting in 2018, Nguyen acquired multiple government documents under the teenager's name. His fraudulent activities were uncovered when he applied for a passport in 2023, which raised red flags due to inconsistencies with the deceased individual’s records. His sentencing is scheduled for June 12, following his arrest in May 2024.
