Brian Cashman swung a trade on Tuesday night, acquiring Alex Verdugo from the Red Sox in exchange for reliever Greg Weissert and minor league pitchers Richard Fitts and Nicholas Judice.
While the Yankees had been in talks with the Padres for superstar outfielder Juan Soto, Verdugo fills one of their open outfield spots and also adds a left-handed bat to the lineup.
