Anthony put himself behind the eight ball entering the final round of the Skills Showcase. It was due to the fact the 20-year-old was shut out in the first round, which rewarded players for bunting to infield locations or hitting to outfield targets.
"I'm going to have to apologize to (Double-A Sea Dogs manager Chad Epperson) in Portland," Anthony told reporters, per the Boston Globe's Alex Speier. "We did way too much bunting for that."
Fortunately for Anthony, it's fair to think the Red Sox won't hold it against him as he climbs up the organization's ranks.
