During his appearance on WEEI's "Jones & Mego with Arcand" show, Cora was asked about the change in his stance on in-season negotiations. "We had an idea of what we wanted to do as a family," Cora said. "...it gained momentum at the All-Star break. ...at the end of the day, man, it was a family decision."
Regardless of the reasons for the change, the Red Sox greatly benefited from extending Cora when they did. Uncertainty no longer hovers over the manager, and Boston now can turn all of its focus toward reaching the playoffs.
