Drew Thorpe, the White Sox hopeful pitcher, will undergo season-ending elbow surgery due to a bone spur. He feels the overall news is positive as his UCL appears clean.
Despite ending the season with a 3-3 record and a 5.48 ERA, Thorpe reflected positively on his experience: 'I learned a lot, just more about myself as a pitcher...'
Thorpe is optimistic about recovery, saying, 'I should have a normal offseason [and] get ready for next year,' following eight weeks of being shut down.
The White Sox have brought up Zach DeLoach and Jairo Iriarte as September call-ups. Iriarte impressed with a 3.71 ERA and 122 strikeouts at Double-A Birmingham.
