What Craig Breslow said about possible Roman Anthony promotion
Briefly

The Boston Red Sox are experiencing an offensive slump after Alex Bregman’s injury, having scored only five runs during a four-game losing streak. Despite ranking sixth in the league for runs scored, the team has dropped to fourth place in the AL East. Chief baseball officer Craig Breslow discussed the possibility of calling up prospect Roman Anthony from Triple-A Worcester, emphasizing the need to balance player development with immediate major league needs. While infielder Marcelo Mayer was recently called up, Breslow highlighted the importance of managing pressure on young players in performance transitions.
"We're excited about the impact we believe he's going to have on our major league team," Breslow said of Anthony.
"Those are a few development opportunities that we want to make sure we lock in," Breslow said. "We have to balance that with our major league needs."
"We're mindful of putting too much pressure on any individual, or in this case, two or three individuals," Breslow said.
"At the same time, it would be impossible to ignore the performance in Triple A given that with each subsequent day, [Anthony] continues to check these boxes."
