Red Sox's Hendriks calls out 'vile' social posts
Briefly

The article discusses Red Sox pitcher Liam Hendriks’ reaction to receiving death threats following a loss against the New York Mets. Hendriks, a cancer survivor, expressed his outrage on Instagram, condemning the vile comments aimed at him and his wife. He emphasized the need for individuals to reflect on their actions when attacking players online. This incident echoes a broader concern in sports, as it follows other instances of inappropriate behavior from fans, raising questions about athlete mental health and the toxic environment surrounding sports culture.
Just as an FYI: Threats against me and my wife's life are horrible and cruel. You need help. Leaving comments and telling me to commit suicide and how you wish I died from cancer is disgusting and vile.
Maybe you should step back and reevaluate your life's purpose before hiding behind a screen and attacking players and their families, whether you do it from your fake accounts or are dumb enough to do it from your real account.
I think I speak for all players who have had to deal with this in their career when I say enough is enough.
This event highlights the disturbing trend of online harassment that athletes face, especially when they are already dealing with personal battles.
