Red Sox activate P Liam Hendriks for first appearance since 2023 and sixth since his non-Hodgkin lymphoma diagnosis
Briefly

Liam Hendriks made a remarkable comeback to major league baseball in 2023 after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma and completing treatment. Although he received a hero's welcome during his return, Hendriks was sidelined shortly after due to elbow inflammation and subsequently required Tommy John surgery. After a lengthy recovery, Hendriks has been activated by the Boston Red Sox. His determination to return to the sport is evident, as he prepares to take the mound again wearing his former White Sox number.
It's been a long and arduous journey to get here, but now I'm here; I can perform and go out there and do what these guys pay me to do.
Hendriks struggled in five appearances through June 9 as the velocity on his fastball dropped by 2.2 mph from 2022.
