In a highly anticipated pitchers' duel between Garrett Crochet and Cole Ragans, the Red Sox triumphed 7-1. Crochet delivered an impressive performance with one run allowed over seven innings, striking out nine batters. The Red Sox offense, led by Trevor Story's three-run homer, was bolstered by timely hits including contributions from Carlos Narváez and Rafael Devers. The game featured tension in the seventh inning but concluded with a satisfying win for the Sox, showcasing both pitching and offensive contributions from key players.
Crochet got himself into a jam in the bottom of the seventh. The tension kept amping up, as Crochet eventually loaded the bases with a walk, with Bobby Witt, Jr. on deck.
Trevor Story broke it open with a three-run homer... with the chatter about whether it's time to replace him as the starting shortstopâand we needed it, too.
All in all, very satisfying.
Narváez hit 3-4, with a walk and a two-run homer. On defense, he caught a runner at second.
