The Texas Rangers have fired offensive coordinator Donnie Ecker after more than three seasons, citing the need for a new perspective to improve the team's underwhelming offense. Despite a recent 8-1 win against the Mariners, the Rangers have struggled offensively throughout the season, ranking low across many categories and showing particular lack of production from key players. Texas's strong pitching has helped maintain a .500 record, but leadership hopes a change in hitting strategy will enhance their chances of contending for the division title and postseason play.
We feel now is the appropriate time to provide our hitters with a new voice as we pursue goals of winning the division and reaching the postseason.
We are extremely grateful to Donnie for all that he has accomplished here with the Rangers, including his role in the club's 2023 World Series championship.
