The Marlins have removed Sixto Sánchez from their roster, sending him outright to Triple-A Jacksonville after he went unclaimed on waivers.
Sánchez was once regarded as perhaps the best pitching prospect in MLB but has faced significant setbacks due to shoulder injuries, missing vital playing time.
Despite returning this season to log 35 2/3 innings, Sánchez struggled, surrendering over six earned runs per nine innings and ending his season early.
Luarbert Arias, who had a successful season with a 3.04 ERA, has been added to the 40-man roster as he competes for a spot in Miami's bullpen.
