Big seasons can turn on little moments. If Tyler O'Neill catches Trent Grisham's game-tying, two-strike, two-out double in the ninth inning of the game, the Red Sox win the series against the Yankees.
"It hit high off the wall," O'Neill said. "Unfortunately just out of my reach." Manager Alex Cora added, "That's an out in any other place. We play here. That's it."
O'Neill's defensive performance has been below average this year. Put other players like Rafaela or Duran in left field, and they would have made the play. But at Fenway Park, you don't typically have quality defenders in left.
