The Guardians have agreed to terms with No. 1 overall draft pick Travis Bazzana, who will receive an $8.95MM bonus, the fourth-highest in draft history, second only to Chase Burns' $9.25MM among 2024 draftees.
Bazzana had an exceptional season at Oregon State in 2024, boasting a remarkable .407/.568/.911 batting line with 28 homers, 16 steals, and a strong walk-to-strikeout ratio of 76 to 37. His exceptional performance ranks him among the top D-I players.
Bazzana's performance also placed him second in on-base percentage behind Corey Collins and second in slugging percentage behind Charlie Condon, the No. 3 overall pick. His 28 home runs tied him for seventh overall in D-I baseball.
The large bonus for Bazzana reflects the value teams see in his stellar collegiate performance and potential for success in professional baseball.
