Buster Posey stated that the Giants still see Jordan Hicks as a starting pitcher, despite his challenges in adapting to the role this past season.
Hicks was initially impressive with a 2.70 ERA over his first 12 starts, but his velocity decrease and subsequent performance decline raised serious concerns.
After being moved back to the bullpen due to physical wear, Hicks finished with a 4.10 ERA over a career-high of 109 2/3 innings.
Despite questions surrounding his endurance as a starter, the Giants plan to provide Hicks another opportunity in the rotation, competing for a spot next season.
