Dave McCarty, a member of the Boston Red Sox championship team in 2004, has died at the age of 54 after a cardiac event in Oakland.
He was present at Fenway Park earlier this month for the club's 20-year celebration of the '04 championship, where he played his last three seasons in the majors.
McCarty, a native of Houston, Texas, was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in 1991. He played for seven MLB teams during his 11-year career, closing it with the Red Sox.
