Kristian Campbell, a rookie for the Boston Red Sox, showcased his hitting skills in a recent game against the Chicago White Sox. He achieved a two-run single that contributed to the Red Sox's 4-2 victory. Manager Alex Cora praised Campbell for his approach at the plate, leading to impressive adjustments against familiar opponents. Campbell emphasized the importance of patience and confidence in hitting, highlighting his disciplined approach as he faced major league pitchers for a second time and successfully navigated tough counts.
"Just staying on the fastball, understanding what he wanted to do there, got a pitch to hit. Hit it hard the other way," said manager Alex Cora.
"Try to be selective as possible and swing at the right pitches. Just try to be patient as possible," said Campbell on his hitting approach.
"Honestly just starting to talk about it. Different teams attack differently to everybody... Just go up there with confidence and hit," Campbell explained about adjustments.
"We talk about there's an opportunity to face the same guys that he faced last week and to make adjustments and start looking for pitches... Not chasing," Cora noted.
