The Red Sox are currently in discussions regarding a potential contract extension for pitcher Garrett Crochet, who they acquired from the Chicago White Sox. Given that Crochet is under team control until 2026 and following the team’s investment of two top-50 prospects, extending him is a priority. However, Crochet expressed a desire to postpone contract talks until after the season starts. Red Sox CEO Sam Kennedy emphasized the importance of balancing the urgency of extending Crochet with respecting his timing and decision-making as he prepares for the new season.

He and his family need to decide is Boston where they want to be, and as the three of us know it's not for everybody.
Crochet is coming off his first full season as a starter for the White Sox in 2024, going 6-12 with a 3.58 ERA.
We are making it a priority to try and extend a lot of our own players that are currently under control and he would fit into that category.
