The Diamondbacks have signed right-hander Kendall Graveman to a one-year, $1.35 million deal, bolstering their relief options. Graveman, who has a solid 2.74 ERA over three years, missed last season due to shoulder surgery. General manager Mike Hazen emphasized the need for additional bullpen depth, expressing confidence in Graveman's ability to rebound. The team is optimistic following his recent throwing session, noting his fastball velocity. Additionally, Shelby Miller returned to the Diamondbacks on a minor league contract, expressing comfort with familiar faces in the organization, despite previous struggles during his initial stint with the team.
We felt it was a good risk to take with the upside of the talent that's been there and in the roles that he's pitched in in the past.
We've been looking for somebody to ultimately complement that group...to add options for us to go into the back end and he's clearly done that in the past.
