Pair of Western Conference playoff hopefuls reportedly interested in Celtics C Luke Kornet
Briefly

Brad Stevens, the Celtics' president of basketball operations, has identified Luke Kornet as a key priority for the team in the upcoming free agency. Kornet is generating interest from teams like the Clippers and Spurs as he enters free agency after a career year. While Boston holds his bird rights, both potential suitors could complicate retention by potentially offering around $14.1 million, pushing Boston into the luxury tax. Kornet's performance and improvement suggest he might command a substantial salary, possibly reaching $10 million per year, reflecting his growing value in the league.
Kornet's clearly in for a payday. Steven Adams got three years at $13 million per, and Gafford got $60 million over three years. The non-taxpayer mid-level exception is around [$14] million; I'll be surprised if Kornet doesn't come in close to that.
He scouts well. He's still definitely a backup, but the question is what he'll do when he gets more minutes than he did with the Celtics. I think he's looking at $10 million per.
